Abstract:

No. 6

Lord St. Helens

Downing Street, July 14th 1801

His Majesty having received information that the French Government meditate an attack on the Turkish Empire, either by sending a force against the Morea or against the Province of Albania has though proper to direct that instructions should be sent to General Sir John Hutchinson, to concert with the Turkish Government for the military occupation of the Island of Corfu as a security to these provinces. – Your Excellency will communicate this to the Russian Government and, at the same time, give them the most positive assurance, that His Majesty has no intention of interfering in the civil government of the island, and has no view whatever of annexing it to his dominions.
