Abstract:

•     Επιστολή Αρ.2 του The Right Honorable The Earl of Hillsborough Robert Ainslie από το Foreign Office στο Λονδίνο (St. James’s, 12 Ιουνίου 1781) προς τον Robert Ainslie στην Κωνσταντινούπολη με την οποία τον ενημερώνει μεταξύ άλλων για την ανάγκη να συνάψει φιλικές και στενές σχέσεις με τον νέο Ρώσο πρεσβευτή στην Κωνσταντινούπολη, τονίζοντάς του πως ο Βρετανός βασιλιάς επιθυμεί να ενισχύσει και να τσιμεντώσει την συμμαχία του και την φιλία του με την Τσαρίνα.
Συγκεκριμένα γράφει ο Ainslie:
I understand that a new minister from Russia is gone or going to the Porte, and I think is proper to acquaint you that as His Majesty is very desirous to strengthen his alliance and cement his friendship with the Empress, it will be right for you to show every mark in your power of attention and regard to this new minister, and to take opportunities of giving him proofs of your confidence and esteem.
