Abstract:

•     Επιστολή Αρ.21 του Robert Ainslie (Κωνσταντινούπολη, 25 Σεπτεμβρίου 1784) προς τον The Right Honorable The Marquis of Carmarthen με την οποία τον ενημερώνει μεταξύ άλλων για την παρουσία Γάλλων μηχανικών ειδικών σε οχυρωματικά έργα στην Κωνσταντινούπολη, στην Σινώπη, στα σύνορα με την Γεωργία, στο Ουτσακώφ. Ο Ainslie αναφέρεται και στην συνάντηση της 20ής Σεπτεμβρίου μεταξύ του Γάλλου πρεσβευτή Count de S. Priest και του Ρεΐς Εφέντη με θέμα – αν και άγνωστο προς το παρόν – μάλλον τις πληροφορίες που είχαν συγκεντρώσει οι Γάλλοι μηχανικοί και τεχνίτες από όλα τα λιμάνια της Μαύρης Θάλασσας. Κατά τον Ainslie στην ουσία θα πρέπει η συνάντηση να αναλώθηκε στα αιτήματα της Γαλλίας περί εμπορίου και ναυσιπλοΐας στην Μαύρη Θάλασσα. Επίσης, κάνει αναφορά και στην άφιξη του νέου Γάλλου πρεσβευτή στην Κωνσταντινούπολη του Choiseul.
