This Republic is constituted upon the fifth article of the Treaty of Campo Formio; by which the Emperor of Austria consented that France should possess the whole sovereignty of the Islands – formerly Venetian in the Levant: being 7 in number: viz: - Corfu, Zante, Cephalonia, Zante, Mauro, Conga, and other Islands dependant upon them.
