My Lord,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Your Lordship’s Dispatch of the 16th ultimo which was delivered to me at Zante on the 26th ultimo by Lieutenant Shaw of His Majesty’s Brig Spider, also a letter for the Government of the Seven Islands and another for His Excellency William Drummond Esq. Ambassador at Constantinople which I forwarded next day to that Minister by way of Patrass.
Count Mocenigo Russian Plenipotentiary at this Republic having requested me to accompany him to Zante where he went concerning the Government affairs was the cause of my having left Corfu; as I have order from Lord Hawkesbury dated the 2nd April 1802 to give any assistance to Count Mocenigo and co-operate with him respecting the object of his mission to this Republic; and also a letter from Sir John Borlase Warren to the same effect date at St. Petersburg the 12th March 1803….
