Abstract:

Επιστολή (Αρ.8) του Φορέστη (Κέρκυρα 28 Μάη 1805) προς τον The Right Honorable Lord Mulgrave His Majesty’s Principal Secretary of State for the Foreign Department με την οποία τον ενημερώνει για έναν Έλληνα απεσταλμένο της Γαλλίας στην Πύλη, ονόματι Cazi Niccola, ο οποίος σταματά κατά το ταξείδι του και στην Κεφαλονιά. Με αφορμή αυτό το πρόσωπο ο Φορέστης γράφει στην επιστολή του και δύο λόγια για τον στόλο των Υδραίων και Σπετσιωτών:… Speziotes and Hidriotes, inhabitants of two small islands on the eastern coast of the Morea … the islanders carry on an extensive and adventurous commerce in their own vessels amounting in number to about 200 and during the Blockade of Toulon by the English did not scruple to attempt to throw in supplies of corn etc for the relief of that Garrison. …
