Abstract:

Επιστολή του George Canning από το Foreign Office, 21 Οκτώβρη του 1808, προς τον Φορέστη με την οποία τον ενημερώνει για την αποστολή με ειδικό σκοπό του λοχαγού Leake στην Μεσόγειο, και του ζητά να του παράσχει κάθε δυνατή βοήθεια. Συγκεκριμένα γράφει:
Foreign Office, October 21st 1808
Mr. Foresti
Sir,
This dispatch will deliver to you by Captain Leake of the the Royal Artillery, whom his Majesty has been pleased to direct to proceed to the Mediterranean on a special service; and I have to desire that you will afford to him every facility and any assistance which he may require.
It is however His Majesty’s pleasure, that you are not to interfere in the execution of the mission which has been instructed to Captain Leake, and which is to be performed by him, under the superintendence of Mr. Adair.
