I heard some time ago, that the Mufti and Clergy had remonstrated strongly against agreeing to the propositions which had been made towards a general opening of the navigation of the Black Sea, which, the French Ambassador in particular, was desirous to obtain, and that it was thought they would be able to prevent it. I do not find upon enquiry that this court had had any fresh information relative to hat subject. …
